The Wii may have revolutionized the game console, but it’s certainly not good at sharing with others, or evolving for that matter. Except for cool games and amazing controllers, the Wii is ten or more years behind the rest.
Developers Battle to Unlock the Wii
The Wii manufacturer treats its console like Fort Knox. It requires special permission to enter and has multiple levels of security before anyone can create content. This leaves independent developers out in the cold.
Other manufacturers embraced these creative souls and viewed them as a fresh new talent pool and source awesome games. Independent Wii developers showed their stubborn side and didn’t give up on trying to unlock the Wii.
To crack open the Wii technology and give designers the access they so desperately needed to create even more cool games, they created packages like the HomeBrew Installer. Before long, the software needed to unlock the Wii console and the manufacturer were in a heated battle.
